May 19, 2003 To Whom it May Concern: I am very happy to offer my recommendation of Dell Deaton. I have known Dell for close to a year.... I have come to regard Dell as a thoughtful, compassionate, and very fair-minded person. I have seem him handle a number of complicated, delicate, and emotionally charged situations with tremendous skill and good humor. He is calm and constructive in times of crisis as well as routine. I have seem him exercise good judgment and discretion in dealing simultaneously with multiple and fast-changing "cases"; and as intermediary between [several areas of expertise]. He also has the clarity of mind to know when to refer to other professional resources. Dell's impressive insight into the human character has allowed him to work comfortably with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, and to create an environment of trust. His patient and non-judgmental approach have been very effective in encouraging honest self-reflection and growth. That process can be slow, but Dell has demonstrated the commitment and perseverance required to produce noticeable positive results. Dell clearly has the analytical and problem-solving skills to envision the larger picture and the longer time horizon. His sense of perspective has been extremely valuable for people feeling overwhelmed by their immediate circumstances. As a university professor myself, I have been favorably impressed by Dell's pedagogical and discussion-facilitating techniques. I can personally attest that he has been very helpful to me at a difficult time. His commitment extends well beyond the call of duty, including making himself available at all hours to talk on the phone or meet in person. Dell is clearly a person of integrity who takes responsibilities seriously. Dell's abilities and motivation would make him particularly well qualified for any ... program or professional occupation involving analysis of human interactions. His skills would be valuable for any area of project management or supervision, independent evaluation, conflict resolution or negotiation, human resources, or counseling/social work, or psychology. It is a pleasure to recommend Dell Deaton, and I know he will continue to be successful in whatever endeavor he undertakes. — Ann Arbor, Michigan |
