Weekly, Walk-In: The Group Decides the Topics
Welcome to Divorce Reality
Discussions™
Link to meeting location directions
In the early months of 2001, I responded to an
important community need for a consistent divorce support group that would
be open to almost anyone at their time of need.
Wherever you are in the divorce process, this
support group meets each and every week, on Wednesday, from 7:00 p.m. to
9:00 pm. at
our Saline location. These are open discussions, and the areas we cover
are mostly brought up by those attending on any given evening. (Rest assured
that I always have things to share, as you can see from
my weblogs — so lack of content is never an issue!)
Our space can accommodate up to 20, although
weekly participation is typically a good deal more intimate than that.
The group tends to be a nice blend of
individuals who have just completed
workshops (mine, or others), people in the very early stages of
considering divorce and even
just stepping out of the courtroom, and folks I've been working with
much longer-term.
As a professional
Transition / Life Coach,
Domestic Relations Mediator, and
focus group moderator since 1989, I keep the meetings productive, and
reality-checked, and recovery-oriented. As
a divorcé myself,
you'll find me uniquely sympathetic, practical, and
anything but judgmental.
This support group is known today as Divorce
Reality Discussions, but, yes, this is the same Divorce Peer Fellowship™
group I created in 2001 and led so long on my own in two other locations.
(I still own the name.)
If you haven't been a part of this group in the
past, I invite you to stop in some Wednesday evening and try us out. No
obligation. While some participants do, indeed, come every week, many others
come on monthly and even longer schedules.
My guess is that if you feel like this maybe the
right group at the right time for you at this point in your life, you'll fit
right in!
Once again: Welcome to Divorce Reality
Discussions.
Fees
We charge on a sliding scale, which will be
discussed at your first meeting with us. We've never turned anyone away for
financial reasons.

Key
rules and understanding
"Groups" without rules become playgrounds for chaos, opportunities
for wolves in
sheep's clothing. So, among other things, all of our participants
agree:
-
To respect the person and privacy of all others in
every group.
-
To refrain from involving others from these groups in
your legal affairs (for example, don't ask fellow participants to testify in
litigation or put their names on your witness lists).
-
To understand that your continued participation in
the group is at the sole discretion of Divorce Reality Group management.

Childcare not provided
We cannot provide childcare (please do not bring children to
workshops).

Disclaimer
We
reserve the right to deny attendance to any person who, in our sole judgment, is
not conducive group dynamics we need to best serve our clients (this has
only happened twice
— but I've found that it's very important to the ongoing confidence of those who
continue to be invested in the group to know that I am absolutely serious here).
If we do not accommodate your request to attend, any payment received will be
refunded.
No individual will be denied
attendance based on race, sex, color, religion, creed, national origin or
ancestry, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or Vietnam-era
status. Also see
general
terms of use
(including
privacy statements), which apply to all programs and other aspects of
Divorce
Reality Group work.

Presenter and facilitator
I've been leading professional workshops and
seminars throughout the United States since 1989. Within the next two years, I
started doing presentations internationally as well, beginning in Frankfurt,
Germany, and then in several venues throughout Mexico.
My style with divorce-related content to be equally
effective in groups as large as eight to as small as one (yup, I did one seminar
for an audience of one, bless her heart). Smaller group dynamics tend to allow
for more individual specifics, which people with divorce -related challenges
tend to prefer.
The reality of change is in the details, and this is
how we best facilitate to that.
If you'd like to know more about my philosophy and
credentials,
my biography is included on this site. I'd also encourage you to read
Divorce Balance,
the weblog I write articles for twice each week.
